Jets Roll to a Winning Record with a 40-17 Win Against the Dolphins

Bill Kostroun/New York Post

The young stars of the New York Jets take charge as the Jets blowout their divisional rivals 40-17 at home.

The New York Jets defense dominated the Dolphins offense and the offense ran for five touchdowns. The Jets have a winning record and are over .500 since 2018. This is the best Jets start since 2017.

This game wouldn't have been this special if the young stars on the Jets didn't play the way they did. Let's start with Sauce Gardner, who got his first interception in the NFL today. He also had a momentum change play in the beginning of the game which caused a safety to get the first points on the board.

Than the offense did the rest as they exposed the Dolphins defense. Rookie Breece Hall had a statement game. He had a 79-yard reception and scored the Jets’ final touchdown of the day to put the nail in the coffin in the game. He finished the game with 197 yards from scrimmage. Second-year running back Michael Carter also had a good game as he scored two touchdowns.

Zach Wilson didn't have a flashy day but he made some good throws and took care of the football. The Jets dominated and Wilson played a good game completing 14 out of his 21 attempts. After spending the first four weeks frequently trailing, the Jets finally were able to get the mix they want on offense. They had 33 rushing attempts vs. 21 passes, which was something that will help the development for Wilson.

Robert Saleh brought his team with some fire in this one and a lot of credit goes to the coaching staff for being ready to move the ball and excelling at it.

The New York Jets are going to Green Bay to take on the Packers next week with some juice.
